So Simple

This day is as simple as it gets. Just some random mixes of proteins, fats, carbs, and veggies. Good stuff.

Breakfast:

Chorizo, red pepper, onion, and a fried egg.  I'm a bit tired of chorizo.  It's more of my husbands thing.  I'd rather have a plain chicken sausage or plain ground pork.  It was worth a try!

Lunch:

Chicken apple sausage (more my thing!), sweet potato, red pepper, onion, and avocado.  Using up those sausages!

Around 3 I ate a handful of unsweetened banana chips. I need to stop the snacking for the Whole30. I wasn't hungry. I was bored.

Dinner:

I noticed meal prep food getting low today.  Those tacos were gone too soon.  I should have portioned it out better.  Today I made a mix of ground pork and kale cooked in ghee.  Then I added two scrambled eggs tonight for dinner.  I also ate some cantaloupe while I was making everyone dinner.

How should I get rid of the boredom eating in the afternoon?

I did something random today...I lay down on the couch and rested when I was feeling tired this afternoon. Crazy right? Lol
Yummy food today. I'm getting close to ready for the Whole30....I didn't quite realize how much I had let things go food -wise :/

Maybe try drinking a Kombucha in the afternoon? I always have one and it perks me up!

I have the same problem Kristen! It's habit and from boredom. I have to try and distract myself, some days it's hard though. Gosh food looks awesome today!!

I find that the more interesting and varied my meals are, the better I do. After all, cooking is not just about putting food in your stomach; it's about the preparation, the presentation, enjoying good food with good company, appreciating the ingredients and the imagination of combining them. When I feel that I am in a rut or doing too much snacking I know it's time to pay more attention to the "big picture."

Oops! That thing posted before I was done writing/editing. Admittedly this is harder under stress, such as husband away, too much competition for my attention from various obligations, etc.

Hmmmm . . . . Maybe try drinking some water or sipping tea? Or, if possible, remove yourself from where the food is accessible.

I'll try the tea! I'm actually going to get some different types of tea today. We were on the same page :)

You are right. I find myself just eating and not really enjoying myself. That's really hard!

What?! What does that mean? Lay down and rest? Hahahaha! You will do fine on the Whole30. It's only 30 days! :)

When I'm bored an in a snacky mood I either find something to keep my hands busy like a project at work or I take my dogs for a walk. Distractions are key for me.

Mmmm the food looks great! I like chorizo but like you I prefer something like a chicken sausage. As for the the boredom eating, like some people suggested below, I find drinking tea is great. Especially when you can get 5 mins to sit down and just relax (hopefully you can do this with the kids). Otherwise go outside and go for a 10 minute walk, come back and if you're still hungry eat something, I find sometimes when I just get out and clear my head I don't feel like I want to eat anymore. Also not sure if you would like it but I take down plain coconut oil from the jar 1/2 - 1 tsp when I feel like I'm craving something sweet, it always works and keeps me full!

Yes, tea helps. Also getting out and moving around. I'm at a desk job where it's VERY easy to sit and snack all day. I keep the herbal tea flowing and get up to walk around the building frequently to distract myself.

I ALWAYS get boredom eating. The afternoon is the least of my problems. I have a HUGE nighttime eating issue. ....not cool, not cool. I just don't know how others get the willpower. I'm reading "Brain over Binge" by Kathryn Hansen to get rid of this ridiculous ....habit ...but its a ...process :(

That's a really good idea about the coconut oil... :)
