Lovin' Leftovers

Breakfast:

I am on a green smoothie kick.  If you aren't then you'd better get on board!  It's good for ya.

I'm trying to have one at least twice a week.
One cup unsweetened almond milk, one banana, one scoop vanilla SFH grass fed whey protein powder, a few ice cubes, and a big handful of spinach.

Gym:  30 minutes of body combat and a 30 minute CXWORX class (basically a core class).

Lunch:

All leftovers! Blue ribbon country captain chicken and cauliflower rice pilaf (both from Well Fed). Plus sautéed cabbage. It tasted amazing together!

Snack:  I've been snacking in the afternoon lately.  I don't know why.  Boredom?  Today my stomach was growling around 3.  Weird because I ate a lot for lunch.  Not enough fat?  Who knows.

A hardboiled egg with paleo mayo and carrots.

I wish I could say that egg was from these chickens...

Nope.

Or maybe this egg...

From this chicken?

Nope.

Hey chickens!  Give us some eggs already!

Dinner:

Scotch eggs from Well Fed.  I'm madly in love with this book!  Scotch eggs are just hardboiled eggs wrapped in seasoned ground pork.  The flavors were incredible.  We also had squash and zucchini sautéed in grass fed butter and simple roasted carrots.

I think I'm getting the hang of this paleo thing y'all.

Do you snack in the afternoon?  If so, what do you eat?

I try and stick to healthy items when snacking in the afternoon - a banana, apple slices, carrots, a few cubes of cheese, etc. Did I miss the post about the homemade mayo???

We spent a whole day trying to make mayo! We finally figured it out and will never go back to store bought. It's so something you would make ;)

I've been obsessed with eggs lately! I've been making them over-easy with whole wheat toast for breakfast.

Us too! I ate 3 today and 4 yesterday. :)

I had a green smoothie today for the first time in ages. It was from Oh She Glows' recent post and was outstanding! So much better than the ones I usually make!

Afternoon snacks, I usually have Chobani or Faje, carrots, bananas with peanut butter, pistachios or almonds, sometimes pretzels, apple with cinnamon... Not sure if any of those are Paleo!

I am in need of some good snack ideas. Need to pre-pack everything for the work week so I don't grab the kids snacks.

That scotch egg looks great!

Green smoothies are the best! I like to make mine a little thicker so I can eat it with a spoon. That way I feel like I'm eating my meal more than just drinking it.

I almost always have a snack in the afternoon, especially on the weekends. My favorite afternoon snacks are apples, carrots with hummus, Greek yogurt, and almonds. Usually one of these does the trick and tides me over until dinner.

I always snack. A lot.
I have a bad habit of nighttime "snacking" which has turned into binging. Shameful. And its nearly EVERY single night. Last night was 3 clementines, 3 squares of Lindt chocolate, 2 tbsps of peanut butter, then 5 blondie cookies (they just looked so fudgy and I honestly would have eaten the whole freaking pan, so I'm kind of surprised I stopped when I did).

Yeah. I'm NOT awesome. And worse is that I have an issue that prevents exercise, so this "problem" of mine is a true problem.

That well Fed book seems interesting but I'm afraid the recipes will be either too complex or call or ingredients I don't have access to (VERY little in the way of food selections where I live), plus I have no access to antibiotic free stuff, so am "getting by" on grain-fed chicken/turkey, and wild fish when I can...lots of eggs, etc. But nothing more, and so something like eggs wrapped in pork wouldn't ever happen for me.

How are you likng that whey? I've finally decided to get willpower to stop eating yogurt...so I'm wary of whey. I alredy think I have an egg sensitivity and possibly also dairy, so am uncertain. But wheey seems "good". I've also considered PlantFusion or LifetimeBasics (clean, vegan ones). Thoughts? Thanks.

Yay for green smoothies!! :) How has it been raising chickens? Is it time consuming? I wonder what you'll think of the first eggs you try from them--if it's much different than what you're used to.

I'm a snacker, but I'm okay with that. I know some people try not to, but that hasn't worked very well for me. I do much better better eating smaller amounts more frequently. In the morning I have an orange to hold me over until lunch, and in the afternoon a typical snack is an apple with a handful of almonds.

I have always wanted to try scotch eggs, but I never have! They look great!

I always have to have a snack in the afternoon. I usually grab an apple or hummus with veggies! It's quick and easy and keeps my hands out of the candy jar!

@Michelle @ Eat Move Balance We love the chickens. They aren't time consuming at all. We have a huge fenced in yard so they roam free in our yard during the day and are in their coop at night. They eat cheap pellets and I clean their coop once a week. It takes maybe 15 minutes to clean it. They are awesome pets.

Those Scotch eggs look amazing! Afternoon snacks for me are usually veggies with hummus, yogurt, banana with nut butter or a handful of trail mix.
